Recruitment and executive search
We specialise in the permanent placement of candidates within the insurance and legal sectors. With offices in Manchester and Hastings, we provide a UK-wide service and we also undertake assignments in mainland Europe. We recruit for a number of business areas including claims, customer service, sales, underwriting, finance, IT and business support.
We recruit across all levels of seniority – from recent graduates through to director and partner-level appointments. We are proud of the fact we are specialists and not generalists and we only ever accept assignments where we truly understand the role and what makes a great candidate.

The majority of our recruitment assignments are for placement of permanent staff at some of the leading insurers in the UK and global law firms. We are extremely proud of the clients we work with and we apply the same approach to every new role. Firstly, we advertise through a mixture of jobs boards and social media channels, before applying our knowledge and experience to tap into the passive market.
A high proportion of our placements come from proactive approaches to candidates, meaning that we do not simply advertise and then hope for the best. We map the market and use our contacts on every assignment, meaning our clients get a gold standard service.
Headhunting and executive search
The key to a successful executive search is the ability to map the market out and understand the different corporate cultures and and personalities at play. A good CV on paper is simply not enough – there must be a genuine connection and desire to work together between the candidate and client.
Our consultancy arm really comes into its own as we continue to actively work within the insurance and legal markets we serve. As such, we are constantly expanding our network of connections. We take great pride in the way we use our connections and market knowledge to make senior hires for the benefit of both candidates and clients.
Our directors personally deal with all senior appointments and agree a bespoke approach in advance, depending upon the needs of the client.
Fixed term and contractors
There are frequently times when a short-term resource will be appropriate to cover variations in work volume, or to provide continuity during unplanned absences or maternity leave.
We are able to bring together candidates and clients who are seeking temporary arrangements and we do this in two ways: we either introduce candidates on a contingency basis or, if the client prefers, we supply contractors having assessed the competence of the candidate and undertaken all necessary pre-employment checks, including referencing and right to work. We supply contractors on a day rate, which is charged based upon the level of experience required.
Recommend a friend scheme
At Jigsaw, one of the many ways we grow our network of talented professionals is via our recommend a friend scheme. If you are registered with us and recommend us to a friend, and we subsequently secure them a permanent position with a client starting within six months of the referral, then as a thank you we will pay you £250.
The scheme rules are easy. To qualify you must be registered on our database. Please note we are specialist recruiters and we only register relevant candidates who work in the insurance and legal sectors. If you design spaceships in America then with regret, we are unlikely to register you on our database.
The referral process is straightforward. Ask your friend to tell us you have referred them to Jigsaw when they apply for their first role or send us their CV. They can do this in a covering letter or email. We’ll need your name, email address and telephone number at the point of referral. Recommend a friend payments are made 90 days after your friend starts their permanent position. We’ll send you a cheque to your home address. There is no limit to the number of recommend a friend payments you can receive. If you refer great candidates then we will reward you!
